Classes
EISG is an intimate school operating one class at each level. The maximum number of students in a class cannot exceed 20.
Staff
The teachers of the International School of Gdansk are a group of well-educated, creative, supportive, and caring individuals. Teachers are carefully recruited from both local and international backgrounds. They are adequately prepared to work with school children. Through thorough recruitment, we seek teachers with a student-friendly and inquiry-based approach to education. ISG teachers are constantly expanding their competencies and developing their skills as part of their duties.
International programme and Polish core curriculum
At EISG, we teach based on the premise of the international IB PYP programme while ensuring the implementation of the Polish core curriculum.
Modern teaching methods
Education for the future requires modern teaching methods, which are used in our school. We teach based on the methods of project, cooperation, and critical thinking.
Lessons in English
English is the language of instruction in our school, and lessons are conducted in this language. According to Polish law, exceptions are lessons of Polish language, history, and geography.
Additional activities
As part of the tuition fee, the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities in the fields of science, art, and sports. Activities – clubs occur before or after lessons and are conducted in English.
Psychological and pedagogical support
All members of the EISG community are covered by the support provided by the Psychological and Pedagogical Counselling Centre “Osiek”. The counseling center offers individual support, consultations, classroom workshops, and training. Among its staff, a psychologist, pedagogue, speech therapist, and career counselor work with the school permanently.
Library
In the building on Biała street, the library of the International School of Gdansk is located in two rooms. In the main room, there are fiction books, school reading and popular science books. In the second room, we gathered encyclopedias and textbooks. In each room, there is a workplace that students can use.
Textbooks
In ISG we teach through inquiry and use textbooks as one of many resources for gaining our knowledge. Polish textbooks for elementary school are ordered through government subsidy. We also use a variety of applications that let us create engaging curriculum and cover wider topics, not limited by a particular textbook.
Excursions and outings
Learning also takes place outside the walls of the school, so we try to organize interesting outings and trips that have cognitive value, but also integrate the school community. The proposed excursions are additionally paid.
Daycare
Throughout the duration of both morning and afternoon common room classes, students are provided with art materials, coloring books, worksheets, board games and children’s books. Children can choose how to spend their free time under the supervision of a teacher.
Foreign languages
The following languages are provided at EISG: English, Spanish, Polish.
Lunches
The school cooperates with a catering company, which provides lunches for children whose parents decide to take advantage of the offer offered by the company. Lunch is charged extra.
